5 Hints You’re Not Networking Enough

Just how much networking is too much networking? I don’t believe I can give you the right answer for that question but I can give you some direction and indications that you probably aren’t networking as much as you should be.
Networking, in this case, should be defined as; bringing new “real” contacts and connections into your life. It’s about beginning relationships and it can be done on or off-line. I recommend off-line highly but a good mix of the two should suffice. At any rate, here are 5 hints that you may be neglecting this valuable activity;
1. You’ve had several nearly duplicate conversations with the same contacts.
Depending on your goals and objectives, you are probably proactive in making phone calls or sending e-mails to your contacts. This is good but have you noticed the same results from the same circle of people? It is said that true insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.
2. You have said it to yourself too many times “I don’t know the right people.”
The above statement is a scream for help. It is also the result of a lack of action. Make it mandatory to get out and network now, so that this won’t be your own quotation in the coming months.
3. You notice that you are following up with the same people often.
This is similar to number 1 above. You may have used networking in order to attract and meet potential clients. The problem, is that they are not giving you definite answers. They are keeping you in the “maybe” file. No one likes to be there. So, expand your options and find the “definites” instead of the “maybe’s”
4. Your voice mail and e-mail inbox is NOT becoming a bit hard to manage.
The above may sound like a problem or something that is a pain in the butt. However, when your voice mail fills up along with your e-mail inbox, it could mean you are in demand. Is this really a bad problem? Well, it all depends on the way you look at it.
5. You have to go to the Yellow Pages to locate professionals and services.
I don’t remember the last time I had to go to the Yellow Pages to locate a professional or services. Believe me, I’m not bragging but trying to make a point. Bring newbies into your personal network on a regular basis and you will acquire referrals that you can trust
